PLOUFFE & CHARLERY TAKE ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT IN NEW DIRECTION

(SQUAMISH, BC.) We are pleased to announce Jean-Francois (JF) Plouffe as Acting Athletic Director and Dany Charlery as Associate Athletic Director.  Both JF and Dany are top-caliber coaches and trainers, and are looking forward to guiding Quest's Athletics Department in a positive and progressive direction.

JF and Dany have already dedicated several years of experience and commitment to Quest, adding to the overall improvement and success of the Athletics Department, and plan to continue to do so.

Before stepping into his new role, JF was Quest's Recreation and Fitness Coordinator.  He has more than 20 years of experience in the guiding & instructing industry, and is a Certified Trainer from the American Certification of Sport Medicine (ACSM).

He completed a Certificate in Rehabilitation at the Cite College in Ottawa and has a diploma in Outdoor Recreational Management from Swinburne University in Australia.  He also trains the varsity team athletes at Quest.

JF says, "I believe that health and success are generated by a balance of a healthy mind and a healthy body." He continues, "It's with a 'feel-good' approach that we want to encompass all students, staff, and faculty in an active lifestyle."

Passionate about the outdoors, health, fitness, and his family, JF brings a wealth of experience and certifications to the athletics department. From coaching triathlons, climbing, mountain biking, whitewater canoeing/ kayaking, snowboarding, diving, advanced wilderness first aid, and leading multi-day expeditions on the international scale - he does it all.

Dany is entering his 7th season of coaching basketball at Quest. Before accepting his new role as Associate Athletic Director, he was the Athletic Coordinator.

He was an assistant coach to both men's and women's basketball programs for 2 years prior to earning his role as head coach of the women's basketball team in 2012.

Since taking the helm as head coach, Quest women's basketball has consistently made their way to the PACWEST Playoffs every year under Charlery's guidance. In 2014, he was named PACWEST Coach of the Year.

He has proven that he is capable of using his thoroughly decorated student-athlete career to pass on his passion and knowledge.

Charlery had an outstanding CIS playing career at Brandon University in Manitoba, BC. He earned CIS 2nd team All-Canadian (2009), CIS Nationals All-Star (2007), CIS Nationals Finals MVP runner up (2007), and was a five-time Canada West All-Star.

"I'm looking forward to working with JF, and advancing the entire Quest Athletics Department."

Together, JF and Dany plan to further develop the athletics department to reflect the highest standard of excellence in education and athletics.

Dany adds, "With new goals and commitments, all with the idea of making the environment a warm and welcoming one for the Quest community, incoming student-athletes, staff & faculty, along with the Squamish community as well."
